Best Dating Apps for College Students in India (2026): An Honest Comparison

Quick answer: For most college students in India, Tinder has the biggest pool of people (turn on Tinder U to see other students first), Hinge suits students who want a relationship, and Bumble BFF or Campus Cupid's Connections mode work if you mainly want friends. If you only want to meet face-verified college students, Campus Cupid is the one app here built only for them. It is free to join and opens on Google Play in November 2026.

A quick disclosure first: we make Campus Cupid, one of the apps on this list. We have tried to be fair to every app here, including where ours falls short, because a comparison you cannot trust is no use to you.

How we compared them

We looked at the four things students ask about most:

We also read 750 recent one-star Google Play reviews of Aisle, Bumble, Hinge, Tinder and TrulyMadly to see what actually makes people quit. Roughly seven in ten mention money: paywalls, surprise charges or likes they could not see without paying. About a third mention fake profiles or bots. Keep those two numbers in mind as you read.

Tinder

Best for: the largest pool of people, especially in big cities.

Tinder has one of the largest user bases in India, so you will rarely run out of profiles. In March 2025 it launched Tinder U in India, which lets students who verify a college email address (such as .ac.in or .edu.in) see other students first.

Watch out for: the pool is mostly not students, and many features, including seeing who liked you, sit behind paid tiers. Paid features and fake profiles are the top complaints in its one-star reviews.

Bumble

Best for: people who want a more curated feel, and Bumble BFF if you mainly want friends.

Bumble built its name on women sending the first message. Reporting in 2026 says it has moved away from requiring that, so check how the current app works before you rely on it.

Watch out for: a smaller pool than Tinder outside the metros, and paid features for anyone who wants more than the basics.

Hinge

Best for: students who want a relationship rather than a fling.

Hinge profiles are built around prompts, so there is more to start a conversation with than a photo. It also offers selfie verification.

Watch out for: far fewer users in India than Tinder or Bumble, so results in smaller cities can be thin. Seeing everyone who likes you is a paid feature.

Aisle

Best for: people looking for a serious, long-term relationship.

Aisle is an Indian app aimed at intentional, marriage-minded dating, and its users tend to be working professionals rather than students.

Watch out for: messaging relies heavily on paid credits and memberships, which is the single biggest complaint in its reviews.

TrulyMadly

Best for: people who want an Indian app with a focus on verified profiles.

TrulyMadly promotes verified profiles, a trust score and compatibility questions, and it has a large base across Indian cities.

Watch out for: of the five apps we read reviews for, TrulyMadly had the highest share of one-star reviews mentioning fake or inactive profiles and paid features.

Campus Cupid

Best for: college students who only want to meet other college students.

Campus Cupid is built only for students in India. Every profile is face-verified with a live selfie, you choose who is allowed to message you, and Blind Date mode lets you chat before photos are revealed. There is also a Connections mode if you are looking for friends rather than a date. Matching and messaging are free, with 10 likes a day on the free plan. Optional plans start at ₹89 a month and add unlimited likes and seeing who liked you.

Watch out for: it is new. Campus Cupid is open for pre-registration on Google Play and launches in November 2026, so it will start with fewer people than the established apps, and it is Android first.

Which one should you pick?

Most students use more than one app. That is fine. Keep your profile honest on all of them and delete the ones that make you feel worse.

Before you pay for anything

Given how many one-star reviews are about money, it is worth a rule of thumb: use any app free for at least two weeks before buying a plan. If you are not getting conversations on the free tier, a subscription rarely fixes that on its own. A clearer profile usually does more. Our guide to writing a dating profile that actually works covers the basics.
